Junior Registration Program Information

We offer a 10 day free trial to all youth athletes that are interested in trying out rowing through February of 2025. 

 

  • The fee for the Spring 2025 season for all athletes that participated in the Fall 2024 program is $3000 due by January 2. 
  • The fee for the Spring season for athletes that did not participate in the Fall 2024 season is $4065.

 

Junior Registration Program Information

  • The Fee for the upcoming season is $6,000
  • Payable in two equal installments on August 29th and January 2nd. 
  • The Fee for any athletes that did not participate in the prior Fall program and joined in the Spring of the current year will be $4065.
  • Fees cover coaching, regatta fees, and travel costs for away regattas (except for "select" regattas - see below), and the end-of-season Junior Banquet.
  • All forms must be submitted and fees paid prior to participation in program.
  • All payments are nonrefundable after midnight on January 19. (Please see the Refund Policy for details and deadlines.)
  • Cancellation requests received by January 19 are subject to a 3% +$25 transaction fee to cover coaching costs and a processing fee.

Potential Costs not included in program fees

  • Novice fall uniform ~$60
  • Spring Racing Uniform ~$100
  • Spiritwear (optional)
  • Team Dinners (optional)

Additional Regatta costs for Varsity Athletes

Varsity athletes (occasionally select novices) may be selected to attend training trips and regattas that are not included in the regular rowing program fees. Participation in these events is conditional and requires payment of the additional costs in advance. Examples include:

  •  Head of the Charles Regatta - estimate $1,500
  • San Diego Crew Classic - estimate $1,250
  • Youth Nationals - estimate $3,500

Requirements for Novice and Varsity Team membership

  • Annual Capital Campaign: Successful completion of fundraising requirement
  • Parent Volunteer HoursThe Junior Program is heavily reliant on the support of our parent volunteers. Each Family is required to volunteer 10 hours per junior athlete.


Scholarship Application and Information

A limited number of need-based scholarships are made available to qualified athletes each season. 

 

Who is eligible to apply?

Junior members whose families have demonstrable financial need are eligible to apply for scholarship aid.

Discount for Multiple Athlete Policy

A discount of 10% on the junior athlete program fee will be granted when two or more junior members from the same family participate in LGRC youth programs concurrently. No discount will apply to the first junior athlete's fee, only to the program fee of the second and subsequent junior family members.



If a junior parent becomes a masters member while his or her child is enrolled in the junior program, or if a masters member adds a junior member, the only discount granted will be 10% on the annual masters dues paid. No junior program fee discount will be granted.
